Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Application Support & SQL Database Administrator to provide support for our internal software applications and manage the SQL databases that support these applications. This role will involve handling helpdesk requests related to the application and SQL databases, maintaining database performance, and ensuring the smooth operation of internal software systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

Application Support

  • Providing first-level support for internal software applications, resolving user issues, and ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Responding to helpdesk tickets related to the internal software and assisting users in troubleshooting and resolving application-related problems.
  • Assisting in software updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Collaborating with development Teams and other departments to resolve application bugs or issues.
  • Documenting application support procedures and frequently encountered issues for knowledge sharing.

SQL Database Administration

  • Maintaining and monitor SQL databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Performing routine database backups, recovery, and restoration tasks.
  • Assisting in writing, optimizing, and executing SQL queries for data extraction, reporting, and analysis.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of database schema changes, including creating or modifying tables, views, and indexes.
  • Monitoring database performance and troubleshoot performance issues (e.g., slow queries, locking, etc.).
  • Ensuring data integrity and security through proper database access control and regular audits.

Helpdesk Support

  • Handling helpdesk requests related to both the internal software application and SQL database issues.
  • Providing timely assistance and escalating unresolved issues to senior engineers or the development Team when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records of support requests and their resolutions in the helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Following company security and data protection guidelines when handling sensitive information.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) will be considered an advantage.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
  • Understanding of database security, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level software applications and their architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve application and database issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to handle end-user support requests professionally and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail for managing sensitive company data and maintaining database integrity.
  • 0-2 years of experience in application support, database administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with helpdesk systems and responding to user support requests.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in both application support and database administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work occasional off-hours for maintenance tasks or urgent support issues.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CANDIDATE PRIVACY NOTICE FOR MEDICAL ASSESSMENT BEFORE HIRING

You agree that subject to the completion of the recruitment process and provided that you receive a conditional offer for employment, you will go through a Fit-For-Work assessment by the Company’s Doctor. The Doctor defines the medical tests needed and performs the examination. You will need to sign a Data Privacy consent with the Company Doctor. The Company Doctor will provide a Fit-For-Work assessment with possible comments to the Company. This assessment will be one of the elements taken into consideration for providing a final offer. Other elements include but are not limited of, verification of the educational certifications, the references, and the work permits (if applicable).

Logicom will keep the Fit-For-Work assessment as part of your HR records if your Employment Contract is signed. If the Employment Contract is not signed, the Fit-For-Work assessment will be destroyed upon such confirmation.

We process the above data as part of the preparation to enter into a legal agreement.
